List of sounds in New Zealand

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of sounds in New Zealand includes all coastal waters that have been designated and registered as sound by the New Zealand authority Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) . The sounds are inlets, straits or straits, which have different geological histories, but have the common feature of an inlet reaching into the land.

list

The sounds are all located on the South Island of New Zealand and are listed in this table from north to south. The Sounds in the Marlborough District , collectively also known as the Marlborough Sounds , are former river valleys that were flooded by rising sea levels. The sounds in Southland, on the other hand, are to be regarded as fjords in terms of their origins, as they were created by glacier movements.

The table can be sorted by columns as required.
