List of mayors of Grenchen
The list of city presidents of Grenchen chronologically lists the city presidents of the Swiss city of Grenchen .
The mayor (formerly mayor ) heads the municipal assembly , the municipal council and the municipal council commission. In the past, the bailiff or ammann was the village head, in the 19th century the term mayor came up. Josef Luterbacher was the last Ammann appointed by the government in 1853. In the constitution of 1856, the right to vote was given to the municipalities. At the community assembly of August 1856, the 27-year-old Euseb Vogt was elected Ammann. After Grenchen had a population of 10,000 in 1925, it was called Stadtammann.
