Adolf Furrer

Adolf Furrer (born December 9, 1897 in Derendingen , † February 10, 1978 in Caracas , legal domicile in Bolken ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Adolf Furrer was born the son of Johanna Vogt and his father of the same name, who was a school keeper in Derendingen . He completed the teachers' seminar in Solothurn , which he completed in 1916 with a teaching certificate. He was then a teacher in Grenchen from 1918 to 1933 . In 1933 he became mayor of Grenchner . He held this office until 1960. From 1935 to 1963 Furrer sat for the Social Democrats in the National Council . Furrer cultivated relations with the city of Genoa , since Giuseppe Mazzini had spent part of his Swiss exile in Grenchen. He died of influenza while visiting his son's family in Caracas , Venezuela .
