: Rudersdorf
The transformer station was built in 1903/04 to supply electricity to the Puntigam brewery and documents the early days of electricity supply in the Graz area. The historicist building, equipped with neo-Romanesque style elements, is almost square. To protect against water ingress, the building stands on a relatively high base. On the north side, the original structure of the pilaster strips is still completely preserved. The four towers give the building a defensive or sacred character. This "sacralization of technology" shows what importance was attached to the progressive technology of electricity at that time. In 2008 it was converted into a bar, the original electrical installations of the transformer were preserved.
