Hofammannhaus ObjectID: 7540 |
Hofsteigstrasse 46 KG location : Lustenau |
Of a two-room type house built around 1452 with a living room and hall kitchen, only the foundation walls have been preserved. The core of the first and second floors was built in the middle of the 17th century from wood that came from the demolition of another hundred year old house. Later the stable was rebuilt, the house was raised by another storey and an extension on the east side was added. At the end of the 18th century the facade was decorated with adhesive roofs and rocaille paintings. In the late 19th century the eastern extension had to give way to an embroidery shop. The house is popularly associated with the influential Ammann Hans Hagen, but in fact he never lived in it, but built it in the 1650s for his youngest son. It was then owned by the Ammann families Hagen and Hollenstein for centuries, but was only inhabited by the actually reigning Ammann for four years. The common designation as "Ammannhaus" or "Hofammannhaus" therefore does not correspond to the real historical background, but the strong roots of the house in the local history, as felt subjectively by the population, may have played an essential role in addition to the historical building fabric when the building was listed in 1978 was asked. |
