The former monastery in Schönbach, today used as a parsonage and elementary school, is a simple baroque building on the north side of the church, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1698. The three-storey complex consists of three wings that are arranged around a rectangular courtyard. It has an eleven-axis eastern front, a simple facade structure and a portal with wall pillars, profiled fighters and a cranked frieze. The late baroque door leaves have wrought iron handles and some monastery grilles. Inside you can see needle cap barrels and groin vaults. At the northeast corner, a covered corridor leads across the street to the former cemetery.

The Maria Lichtmess parish church, elevated above the market square of Schönbach, is a remarkably uniform late Gothic hall church from 1450 to 1457 (?). The mighty nave is covered by a steep gable roof. The strongly drawn-in choir with a five-eighth closing is the same height as the nave. The building has a circumferential base with protruding, stepped buttresses with pent roofs and pointed gables. On the west wall, the church is accessible through a keel arch portal with pinnacles and tracery tympanum and in the south through a shoulder arch portal. Both portals have neo-Gothic wooden doors and are heavily revised in a neo-Gothic style. The high pointed arch windows were renewed in the 17th century (?). The north tower rises in the choir corner. It was raised in 1901 and is crowned by ogival sound windows and a pyramid helmet.
