This is a list of Namibia's orders and decorations . The most important sign of Namibian honor is the elevation of a deceased person to hero status .

Namibian Orders and Medals

The following medals are awarded by the President of Namibia :

1. Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia mirabilis ( German  about order of the oldest Welwitschia mirabilis ) - awarded since 1995; only for all Namibian presidents and outstanding foreign heads of state
2. Most Brilliant Order of the Sun (German about Hellster Order of the Sun ) - awarded since 1995; only for deserving people
3. Most Excellent Order of the Eagle (German about the most excellent order of the eagle ) - awarded since 1995; only for diplomatic persons
4. Order of the Mukorob (German about Order of the Mukurob ) - awarded since 1995; only for military persons
5. Most Distinguished Order of Namibia (German about Highest Order of Namibia ) - awarded since 1995; only for deserving people

1. Independence Medal (German about Independence Medal ) - awarded since 1995; for benefits in connection with Namibia's independence in 1990
2. Liberation Medal (German about freedom medal ) - awarded since 1995; for services in connection with the liberation of Namibia from South Africa

The Namibian Defense Force awards the following medals:

• Namibian Cross for Bravery: Gold (German Bravery Medal in Gold )
• Namibian Cross for Bravery: Silver ( Silver Medal for Bravery )
• Namibian Cross for Bravery: Bronze ( Bronze Medal of Bravery )
• Campaign Medal ( mission medal ); for use in East Timor and Sierra Leone
• Medal of Honor ( Medal of Honor ); for relatives of fallen soldiers
• Service Medal: Gold ( service medal in gold ); after 30 years of service
• Service Medal: Silver ( service medal in silver ); after 20 years of service
• Service Medal: Bronze ( service medal in bronze ); after 10 years of service
• Namibian Champion Shot Medal ( Namibian Shooting Medal ); for the best shooter of the year
