List of the Palatine freight cars

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of the Palatinate freight wagons is a compilation of all freight wagons that were purchased and used by the Palatinate Railways between 1846 and 1920, including company and private cars. The dates selected for the list correspond roughly to the ones given in the wagon registers. The selection of the time segments for specifying the wagon numbers results from the numbering periods relevant for the Palatinate railways

  • from 1846 to approx. 1875, separate number ranges of the individual railway companies of the Pfalzbahnen
  • from 1875 new numbering scheme, across all companies
Numbers 0001 to 3000 for Ludwigsbahn cars
Numbers 3001 to 5000 for Northern Railway wagons
Numbers 5001 to 5999 for Maximiliansbahn cars
Numbers> 6000 Continuation for Ludwigsbahn wagons and finally for all new additions without ownership subdivision. Wagons that were moved from Bavaria on the right bank of the Rhine largely retained their wagon numbers.
  • From January 1, 1909, new numbering scheme after being taken over by the Royal Bavarian State Railways

A list of the wagon numbers in the respective epochs can be found on the pages with the wagon details.

List of freight wagons, standard gauge

With the first wagon order for the railway (Ludwigsbahn), which is still under construction, Paul Camille von Denis also ordered 300 transport wagons . The companies Maschinenbau-Gesellschaft Karlsruhe , Dingler in Zweibrücken and Flach, Albig & Krämer in Speyer emerged as winners from the public tender .

As early as 1856, the Palatinate Ludwig Railway had grown to 7 horse-drawn, 260 covered and open freight cars and 820 coal transport cars. The Palatinate Maximiliansbahn-Gesellschaft had around 400 transport wagons at that time.

At the time of the merger of the Palatinate Railways (1870), they owned a total of 2,978 freight cars of all types. Of these, 2,385 were with a load weight of 200 quintals (10,000 kg), 7 pieces had a load weight of 160 quintals (8,000 kg) and 686 had a load weight of 100 quintals (5,000 kg).
