List of man-made objects on Mars

Mars

The list of man-made objects on Mars includes most of the man-made objects on the surface of Mars .

Most of the probes are no longer in operation. While Phoenix was started and ended in the course of 2008, the mission of the twin rovers Spirit and Opportunity has been extended again and again since 2003, as the rovers were powered by solar cells and have proven to be much more durable than originally assumed. Spirit's mission was officially completed in May 2011, Opportunity's in February 2019. Since August 6, 2012, the Mars Science Laboratory mission with the Curiosity rover has been the only mobile space probe on Mars.

While over 7 tons have been brought to Mars, nothing has yet been brought from Mars to Earth. The return of Mars samples to Earth will Template: future / in 5 yearstake place after 2025 at the earliest .

This list does not include smaller items such as parachutes, heat shields or the MER landers .

The objects are numbered according to the order of their impact or their landing.
