Literature in Bavaria. Journal for Literature and Culture (abbreviation LiB ) is a German literary and cultural journal that has been published since 1985. On about 48 pages per issue, articles are published that deal with people and objects in literature in Bavaria and their history. In addition, reviews, exhibition reviews, excerpts from prose and poetry as well as scientific contributions and essays are printed. The literature in Bavaria is one of the most important organs for Bavarian literature.

history

The magazine was founded in 1985 by Dietz-Rüdiger Moser , long-time professor for Bavarian literary and cultural history at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität , who together with his colleague Carolin Raffelsbauer was the publisher, editor-in-chief and author of the magazine until his death in 2010. The magazine was then published by Carolin Raffelsbauer together with the writer and literary scholar Gerd Holzheimer ; Holzheimer has been the sole publisher since 2012. He runs the magazine with the support of the Friends of Literature in Bavaria e. V. Without being academic in the narrower sense, it is a mirror of Bavarian literature and, at the same time, of neighboring arts. She also allows herself to be entertaining. From issue 119 in the 30th year, the magazine will be published by Allitera Verlag .

subjects

The title of the magazine Literatur in Bayern opens up space for every type of literature that is set, written and dealt with in Bavaria. Thomas and Heinrich Mann are just as much a part of it as Michael Ende or Herbert Rosendorfer . And of course all the authors who write in Bavaria and about this region today, well-known and less well-known, such as Friedrich Ani or Maria Magdalena Leonhard. The LiB serves both the scientific public and interested laypeople. With numerous pictures and illustrations, it offers a cross-section through the Bavarian literary landscape.
