Literaturca publishing house

The Literaturca Verlag is a German publishing house in Frankfurt , the first of Turkish literature publishes in German transmission. It was founded in 2001 by the native Hungarian Beatrix Caner and the Istanbul-born Mesut Caner. The declared aim is to “translate the best writers from Turkey”.

Publishing history

Mesut Caner, originally a systems analyst, initially operated a mail-order book trade for Turkish-language literature and supplied public libraries in Germany. Today he is the owner of the company he founded. Beatrix Caner is a Turkologist and had already dealt with Turkish literature for decades before she started publishing. Many of the translations from Turkish published by Literaturca are from her.

The authors, most of whom have been published in German by Literaturca for the first time since 2001, include Nermin Abadan-Unat , Erendiz Atasü , Murat Gülsoy , Feyzâ Hepçilingirler , Bilge Karasu , Cemil Kavukcu , Pınar Kür , Ayse Kulin , Ayla Kutlu , Nezihe Meriç , Çetin Öner , Demir Özlü , Rita Rosen , Elif Shafak , Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar , Tomris Uyar and Sadık Yalsızuçanlar .
