Fakir Baykurt literary café

The Fakir Baykurt literature café is a German - Turkish literature workshop . It was founded in 1992 by the Turkish writer Fakir Baykurt , who lives in Germany , initially as a working group in the International Center of the Adult Education Center in Duisburg .

From this working group, whose original aim was merely to bring together immigrants interested in literature from all levels of education, a bilingual (Turkish / German) working literature workshop soon developed. Continuation after Baykurt's death

It was only after Baykurt's death (1999) that the workshop, which previously called itself simply "Literaturcafé im IZ Duisburg", received the name of its founder. The group has been led by Mevlüt Asar since then .
