Erol Yıldırım

Erol Yıldırım (born January 1, 1944 in Sivas , Turkey ) is a Turkish writer and literature teacher who has lived in Germany since 1980.

Life

Yıldırım grew up in Sivas and came to Istanbul in 1961 , where he graduated from high school in 1967. From 1967 to 1972 he studied Turkish language and literature at the University of Istanbul . He then taught these subjects at various high schools for eight years.

In 1980 he emigrated to Germany.

Here Yıldırım initially worked as an adult education center teacher for Turkish language and literature at the VHS Oberhausen until 1987 . During this time he also worked as a theater director . He taught at various grammar schools in Düsseldorf , Benrath and Duisburg and finally came to the Bertha-von-Suttner-Gymnasium Oberhausen in 1989 as a high school teacher , where he taught the Turkish language until his retirement in 2005.

As a writer, Yıldırım has published several novels , volumes of poetry and in numerous anthologies (e.g. the literary café Faikr Baykurt ). In literary terms, he works mainly in Turkish, but also in German.
