The Literaturhaus Nordhessen eV was founded in 2004 as part of the Kassel Capital of Culture application. The Literaturhaus has been based in the Kunsttempel in Kassel since 2011 .

Young adults, graphic storytelling, contemporary literature and philosophy are key features of the annual program.

Series such as the reading series in autumn, the long night of young literature and music or the literary salon reach a large audience. Many of the 40+ events a year are made possible through cooperation beyond the borders of North Hesse. The collaboration with Leseland Hessen, the Bosch Stiftung, the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia and Text Manufaktur are a few examples.

Literaturhaus Nordhessen eV is a member of the Hessen Literature Council and is supported by the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art and the City of Kassel.
