History and orientation

The building used to be a deli and has been a gallery since 1975. The art temple was founded in 1999, before the painter Werner Kausch ran the “Studio Kausch” in the building. The focus of the gallery is visual arts, poetry, literature and sound art. The program is determined in particular by experimental projects as well as alternative exhibition and event concepts.

The Literaturhaus Nordhessen has also had its headquarters in the Kunsttempel since September 2011 and is helping to shape the program.
