Wolfram Spyra , often called Der Spyra or just Spyra (born December 12, 1964 in Eschwege ) is a German sound artist and electronics musician from Kassel .

Life

Spyra studied from 1986 to 1992 at the Kassel Art College with Harry Kramer and completed her studies with a thesis on the subject of "Sound Generation, Sound Composition, Sound Sculpture". In the following years he made himself known in his hometown through numerous sound installations , including Kassel's acoustic city map , which has been on public display in the town hall there since 1997. His "electric chair" is also known (the chair is made of steel and is always under 230 volts). This could be seen in the supporting program of the Documenta . It was also installed several times in the Kassel home .

It was only through the practice of playing with tape machines instead of turntables that he became known as a DJ and live act.

His first CD was only released in 1995. Since 1997 his CDs - in addition to solo CDs and co-productions with Pete Namlook - have been published on the FAX + 49-69 / 450464 label. The 1997 album Future of the Past , which is more based on the classic Berlin school , was released on the Manikin Records label . In addition to studio recordings, Spyra often gives live concerts at home and abroad.

He also became known through his collaboration with the Kassel home .

He lives in Kassel , London and Berlin .
