Literature Prize of the State Capital Hanover
The Literature Prize of the City of Hanover is a German literature prize that has been awarded by the City of Hanover since 2017, alternating with the Hölty Prize every two years . The prize is linked to the Gerrit Engelke Prize and the Kurt Morawietz Literature Prize set in 2005 and 2006 respectively . The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, is awarded by a jury to authors who are at the beginning of their literary work and whose excellent work is, if possible, no older than two to four years.
The jury in 2019 included:
- Florian Kessler (editor at Hanser Verlag and cultural journalist),
- Alexander Košenina (Professor of German Literature at Leibniz University Hannover ),
- Carola Markwa (Managing Director of Börsenverein Landesverband Nord eV),
- Charlotte Milsch (managing director and program director of the literary salon at Leibniz Universität Hannover) and
- Konstanze Beckedorf (Head of Culture Hanover).
Award winners have been:
- 2019: Deniz Utlu , among others for Die Unhalten
- 2017: Juan S. Guse for noise and forests
