The Little Nahanni River is a right tributary of the South Nahanni River in Canada's Northwest Territories .
It has its origin in the Flat Lakes north of Tungsten in the Backbone Ranges , a part of the Mackenzie Mountains . From there the river flows in a northerly direction. He takes up Steel Creek from the left . The Little Nahanni River then turns to the northeast and shortly afterwards to the east before flowing into the South Nahanni River. The lower reaches of the Little Nahanni River lies within the Nahanni National Park Reserve .
The Little Nahanni River is accessible from Tungsten. A 90 km whitewater canoe trip takes you down the Little Nahanni River to the Island Lakes on the South Nahanni River. The rapids have difficulty levels II-IV.
