Liudvikas povilonis
Liudvikas Povilonis (born September 7, 1910 in Šilgaliai , Panevėžys District , Kowno Governorate , † August 9, 1990 in Kaunas , Lithuania ) was Roman Catholic Archbishop and Apostolic Administrator in Panevėžys.
Life
Liudvikas Povilonis studied theology and canon law at the Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas from 1930 to 1934 and then worked as a teacher at the Marijampolė high school . From 1931 to 1940 he was the editor of "Šaltinėlis". He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1934. From 1960 to 1966 he was imprisoned in Pravieniškės and in Vilnius . On November 7, 1969 he was appointed titular bishop of Arcavica , appointed auxiliary bishop in Telšiai and ordained bishop on December 21, 1969 by Juozas Matulaitis-Labukas , from 1984 he was archbishop. From 1969 to 1973 he was auxiliary bishop in the Diocese of Telšiai , from 1979 to 1988 Administrator of Kaunas and Vilkaviškis and from 1983 to 1984 Administrator in the Diocese of Panevėžys .
