Livramento de Nossa Senhora , officially Portuguese Município de Livramento de Nossa Senhora , is a city in the state of Bahia , Brazil and the seat of the diocese of Livramento de Nossa Senhora . The population was estimated to be 45,388 as of July 1, 2018.
history
The settlement was founded in 1710 and got its name from the first chapel built by the Jesuits in 1715, which was dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Livramento (Our Lady of Liberation). Nossa Senhora do Livramento (Our Lady of Liberation) is a popular invocation of Mary in the Archdiocese of Braga (Portugal) at the time . In 1785 the place was raised to a cidade .
