Lizzy Mayrl

Lizzy Mayrl (born June 28, 1962 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian visual artist; she lives and works in the Weinviertel , Lower Austria and mainly uses felt for her work .

Life

Lizzy Mayrl successfully completed a degree in textile design and art education at the University of Applied Arts Vienna . As a diploma thesis she presented a study on the Mongolian yurt at the Institute for Theory and History of Architecture with Friedrich Achleitner . ("Ger, the Mongolian yurt." 1998)

From 1998 to 2000 she was given a teaching position at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, textile department. During this time she continued to work conceptually with felt and completed further training and practice as an art therapist. She undertook numerous study trips to Central Asia ( Mongolia , Kyrgyzstan , Tajikistan , Uzbekistan ), China , and Lapland, some of which lasted several months .

In 2002 and 2003 she was called in by the Swiss Development Service SDC as a consultant for the establishment of an art center “City of Artists” in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In 2006 she received a teaching position at the University of Culture in Tashkent, Uzbekistan .

In 2007 she founded the association "DIALOG CENTRAL, Association for the Promotion of Dialogue with Central Asia through Art, Science, Education and Social Affairs" and continues to devote herself to the mutual exchange of artists from Central Asia with Europe.

In 2008 she organized (DIALOG CENTRAL and KOLDOO) the 1st Women's Film Festival in Bishkek / Kyrgyzstan.
