Peter Emmerich Coreth (born May 9, 1948 in Linz ) is an Austrian journalist, writer, translator, art collector and museum founder.

Coreth studied political science in Salzburg and Nairobi . From 1971 to 1975 he was editor of the Salzburger Nachrichten . During this time, his novel Arbeitshaft and literary works appeared, for which he was awarded the Georg Trakl Prize for Poetry in 1972.

In the following years he began to collect artistic works from different times and cultures, which were to find a museum presentation at some point. After the fall of the “Iron Curtain”, Coreth bought an old manor in 1992, which is located in Fratres in the northern Waldviertel , close to the border with the Czech Republic. There he founded the Fratres Cultural Bridge in 1995 , a cultural initiative aimed at promoting Austrian-Czech understanding. Since 1996 the “International Carl Orff Week of Encounters” has been held there and in the small town of Slavonice on the Czech side . The “Verein Kulturbrücke” is also the sponsor of the Humanum Museum , which endeavors to present Peter Coreth's art collection in a synopsis of times, cultures and mythologies in the lavishly restored manor.
