Lyubomir Pipkov

Ljubomir Panayotov Pipkow (also Lyubomir Panayotov Pipkov written Bulgarian Любомир Панайотов Пипков * 6. September 1904 in Lovech ; † 9. May 1974 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian composer.

The son of the composer Panayot Pipkow studied at the National Music Academy of Sofia and was a student of Paul Dukas from 1926 to 1932 . He then became a répétiteur and choir conductor at the Sofia Opera and finally its director. Since 1948 he worked as a professor of singing at the conservatory.

He composed four symphonies , a piano, a violin, a cello and a clarinet concerto, chamber music works, an oratorio , a cantata , piano pieces, choral works, songs and film scores.

Together with his father, he has been the namesake of the Pipkow Glacier on Alexander I Island in Antarctica since 2017 .
