Panayot Pipkov

Panayot Christow Pipkow ( Bulgarian Панайот Христов Пипков ; born November 21, 1871 in Plovdiv , † August 25, 1942 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian composer.

Piplow studied from 1892 at the Conservatory in Milan . From 1899 he was conductor in Varna and Russe, 1921-22 choir conductor of the opera and 1924-30 conductor of police music in Sofia. He composed an opera and two children's operettas, choral songs, piano and violin pieces, drama music and works for wind orchestra. His son Lyubomir Pipkov also became known as a composer.

Together with his son, he has been the namesake of the Pipkow Glacier on Alexander I Island in Antarctica since 2017 .
