history

Lustdorf tram station at the beginning of the 20th century

The village was founded by Black Sea German settlers from Württemberg, who settled here in 1805 and was located within the Großliebentaler colony. The settlement was initially called Kaiserheim , but was soon given the name Lustdorf , as the then Russian Emperor Alexander I did not like the name. In honor of the daughter Olga of Emperor Nicholas II , Lustdorf was renamed Olgino ( Ольгино ) in 1907 and in 1944 the village was named Chornomorka.

In August 1907 the tram line was built from the center of Odessa to Ljustdorf, making the village the only rural area in the Russian Empire that had an electric tram connection.
