tourism

From the metropolis of Barcelona, Llafranc can be reached after 125 km in less than two hours by car. This is how Llafranc became one of the most popular holiday and weekend destinations for wealthy Barcelonians. Villas, houses and apartment complexes shape the townscape up into the surrounding hills. Hotels, restaurants and shops are located on the waterfront and its extension. A campsite is just outside the village.

Foreign guests come mainly from France, England, the Netherlands and Germany. Outside the main season from mid-June to mid-September, Llafranc is almost deserted during the week. The people of Barcelona and some day visitors only come on weekends and on public holidays. In the high season the beach is full and there is a lot of activity.

The underwater fauna is intact on the rocky coasts. Three diving centers offer their services. The Llafranc tennis club is just outside and has 19 courts. The Llafranc Nautical Club gives sailing courses.

On the right side of the bay a long staircase leads to the steep coast and on it the first bay of Calella de Palafrugell can be reached in about 15 minutes with a view of the Mediterranean Sea.

The hiking trail to Tamariu starts at the port on the left side of the bay. He overcomes the 175 vertical meters to the Far de Sant Sebastià lighthouse in about ½ hour, mostly on a road. From the lighthouse we continue on a narrow path along the steep coast and Tamariu is reached in about 1.5 hours.
