Lloyd Bochner

Lloyd Bochner (born July 29, 1924 in Toronto , Ontario , † October 29, 2005 in Santa Monica , California ) was a Canadian actor.

Lloyd Bochner, an actor trained in classical acting, has played the smart heroes and villains in theater, television and film in his 50-year career. He was best known for the television series The Twilight Zone (1959-1964) and as Cecil Colby in the television series The Denver Clan .

Life

Bochner was already engaged as a radio host in Ontario at the age of eleven. Theater and film engagements followed later. He was early honored with two Liberty Awards , Canada's highest acting honor.

In 1951 he moved to New York and in 1960 to Los Angeles . Here he had great success with the Hong Kong series . He was also featured in the 1954 documentary short The Stratford Adventure . In 1963 he became known throughout the US with the episode To Serve Man from the television series The Twilight Zone . This series still ranks 11th in the top 100 TV movies of all time in the United States.

He later played in the feature films The Detective and Tony Rome alongside Frank Sinatra as well as in The Night Walker with Barbara Stanwyck . This was followed by the films The Man in the Glass Booth , Point Blank with Lee Marvin and The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear ( Die nackte Kanone 2½ ).

His television appearances have included roles in the series Columbo , Mission: Impossible , McCloud , Golden Girls , Wild, Wild West , Kampfstern Galactica and Designing Women, and Dynasty .

In 1998 he co-founded the campaign against violence in film and television. Bochner was also a committed member of the Association of Canadian Radio and Television Artists .

Lloyd Bochner was married to Ruth Bochner. The marriage has three children, including the actor Hart Bochner .
