Lloyd Scott

Lloyd Scott (* 21st August 1902 in Springfield (Ohio) , † unknown) was an American jazz - drummer and bandleader .

Lloyd Scott led a joint ensemble with his brother Cecil Scott in the 1920s , which initially performed in Ohio , then played in Pittsburgh and finally in Harlem . It later appeared as Cecil Scott and His Bright Boys and Lloyd Scott's Symphonic Syncopators ; his musicians have included Dicky Wells , Frankie Newton , Bill Coleman , Roy Eldridge , Johnny Hodges , Fletcher Allen and Chu Berry . The first recordings were made in New York in 1927 under the name Lloyd Scott and His Orchestra ; the five pieces, including "Happy Hour Blues" (Scott was involved in three compositions) were arranged by pianist Don Frye and trumpeter Kenneth Roane and contain the first solos of Dicky Wells on record. At the end of 1929 he was still involved in the recordings of his brother Cecil. After 1929, Lloyd Scott ended his active music career and became the band manager of the formation that appeared as Cecil Scott's Bright Boys .
