Lobsang Rampa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lobsang Rampa is the pseudonym of the English writer Cyril Henry Hoskin (born April 8, 1910 in Plympton , Devonshire , England, † January 25, 1981 in Calgary , Alberta, Canada).

In 1956, the successful book was published The Third Eye (German title: The Third Eye ), in which the author Dr. Tuesday named Lobsang Rampa and pretended to be a senior Tibetan lama. He claimed he had a third eye that had been opened for him in a painful operation. This eye gives him esoteric abilities. The first name Tuesday should remind you that he was born on a Tuesday.

When his true identity became known, he claimed that the spirit of Lobsang Rampa was now in the body of Hoskins, who had agreed to the exchange. However, he couldn't explain why he spoke English but not Tibetan.

Hoskin wrote other books under this pseudonym:

  • Doctor From Lhasa
  • The Rampa Story
  • The Cave of the Ancient
  • Living With the Lama
  • You-Forever: Wisdom of the Ancients
  • The Saffron Robe
  • Chapters of Life: Beyond the Tenth.
