Loch Hempriggs is a freshwater lake in the traditional county of Caithness in the Scottish Council Area Highland . It is located in the northeast of the county near the North Sea coast around three kilometers southwest of the coastal town of Wick .

The lake is at an altitude of 45 meters above sea level. The approximately circular Loch Hempriggs has a length of 1.2 kilometers with a maximum width of 1.1 kilometers, resulting in an area of 88 hectares and a circumference of four kilometers. The Burn of Thrumster flows into Loch Hempriggs and flows out of the Loch of Yarrows to the southwest and feeds the lake volume of 1,409,096 kiloliters . Castle Loch's catchment area is 2,139 hectares. The relatively shallow lake has an average depth of 1.6 meters and a maximum depth of 2.4 meters.
The Burn of Newton flows off on the east bank, and after a short run it flows into the Wick at Wick, which drains into the North Sea at Wick. Near the drain, a canal leads to Wick, which once met the water needs of the Pulteney whiskey distillery .
In hole Hempriggs live trout . There are also populations of ducks and swans.
