Also at the following World Championships Campbell was eliminated early. He qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing , but suffered another opening defeat. At the oceanic Olympic qualification tournament in Nouméa in mid-2011 , Campbell qualified for his second 2012 Olympic Games in London . In the decisive final duel, he won without a fight after his opponent could not compete due to injury.

In 2009 it became known that Campbell had opened a brothel in his hometown, which sparked controversial discussions. The New Zealand Olympic Committee questioned further starts at the Olympic Games because of the lack of a role model. Campbell, on the other hand, justified the step with a lack of financial support for Taekwondoin in New Zealand, until then he was only able to take part in competitions overseas with the support of his parents. After the end of business activity in the field, nothing stood in the way of a nomination for the Olympic Games.
