planning

The planning status from the end of 1995 provided for a length of 175 m for the structure.

At the end of 1997 the planned length was 173 m. In mid-1998, the Federal Railway Authority advised Deutsche Bahn that the bridge would have to be built differently due to the new Habitats Directive . Regardless of this, the planned length according to the planning status from mid-1999 was unchanged at 173 m. This corresponds to today's length.

construction

The bridge was built with a telescopic arm .

On July 10, 2001, the gap was closed on the bridge, the last section of the high-speed rail section being welded.

To compensate for the ecological interference in the Siebengebirge nature reserve, two 600 m² feeding ponds for kingfishers were created.
