The logistics brigade 1 (Log Br 1) of the Swiss Army is a large unit composed of several logistical formations ( battalions , companies ), which is led by a brigadier . Log Br 1 has existed since January 1, 2004 as part of Army XXI .

history

In Army 95 , the medical troops , veterinary troops , supply troops , material troops, transport troops and the field postal service were responsible for logistics . These logistic formations, there were 6 supply regiments with a total of 13 supply battalions , were divided into the territorial divisions and brigades that were subordinate to the army corps . On December 31, 2003, Army 95 was disbanded and with it the last assigned supply formations.

With Army XXI, which came into force on January 1, 2004, Logistics XXI was introduced. The various former supply formations were now called logistics troops, in which the medical services and logistics are combined. The newly created logistics brigade 1 (Log Br 1) was placed under the army's logistics base (LBA), which is responsible for the entire logistics and supply of the army. For the first time, all logistics formations were combined in a single large association. The Log Br 1 comprises 20 battalions, active and reserve battalions, with 68 units, a service company and a total of approx. 13,500 members of the army (AdA).
