Payroll accountant Kremke is a film drama of the writer and director Marie Harder from 1930. In the lead role embodies Hermann Vallentin the payroll accountant Kremke. The film is one of the last silent films made in Germany .
action
Kremke, a wage clerk with body and soul, is not particularly interested in politics or in his social environment. It is enough for him that he can do his daily routine tasks in the office. Nor does he waste a thought on the plight of the workers whose wages he administers.
However, when Kremke is about to be fired for austerity and rationalization measures, he suddenly understands the workers who had to fear for their jobs in the past. His view of the world begins to falter, because he has to recognize that he is only an employee, whose professional existence depends on other decision-makers.
From now on, dependent on the services of the community, he joins the queue of the unemployed, that section of the population to whom he could previously only express his contempt.
When his daughter, in whom he always had great hopes, ends her promising relationship with a wealthy student in order to enter into a love affair with a worker who has won her heart, Kremke's worldview collapses. He commits suicide .
