St. Magdalena on the Kleiner Loibl

The Loibltal is the valley of the Loiblbach . It is important as the north-facing access to the Loibl Pass .

The Loibltal is a right side valley of the Rosental . It runs in the Karawanken from the Loiblpass northwards to Ferlach . Its most important side valley is the Bodental , which joins from the left in front of the valley of the Kleiner Loibl . It is accessible via the B 91 ( Loiblpass Straße ), which is part of the E 652 . With the donkey saddle there is a transition to the Zeller high valley , which is not open to the public.

The Ferlach district of Loibltal ( Brodi in Slovenian ) comprises the inner part of the valley. The Loibl Tunnel and the memorial for the Loibl concentration camp , which was built for the construction of the tunnel, are located here below the Loibl Pass . A church from the early Middle Ages was left to decay from the 18th century. Instead, the current parish church of Loibltal was built a little further outside in the 19th century .

The outer part of the valley, below the Kleiner Loibl, belongs to the Ferlach district of Unterloibl ( Podljubelj in Slovenian ). Here the Loiblbach forms the narrow valley of the Tscheppaschlucht .
