Lok Sabha constituency of Bangalore

The Lok Sabha constituency of Bangalore was a constituency in the elections for Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament , from 1957 to 1971 . It belonged to the state of Mysore and comprised areas with changing layout in and around the city of Bangalore .

In the first Lok Sabha election in 1951, Bangalore and the surrounding area were still divided into the constituencies of Bangalore North and Bangalore South . The Lok Sabha constituency of Bangalore was created for the Lok Sabha election in 1957. It initially comprised an area in the Bangalore suburbs, while the city itself formed the constituency of Bangalore City . In the run-up to the Lok Sabha election in 1967, the constituencies were reorganized. The constituency of Bangalore now included Bangalore City and its surroundings, while the surrounding areas went to the newly established constituency Kanakapura . For the 1977 Lok Sabha election, the constituency of Bangalore was dissolved and divided between the re-established constituencies of Bangalore North and Bangalore South.
