Lok Sabha constituency of Kanakapura

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lok Sabha constituency of Kanakapura was a constituency in the elections for Lok Sabha , the lower house of the Indian parliament , from 1967 to 2004 . It belonged to the state of Mysore or, after its renaming in 1973, to the state of Karnataka . The Kanakapura constituency comprised an area in the districts of Bengaluru Urban , Ramanagara and Mandya in the vicinity of the metropolis of Bangalore . It was named after the city of Kanakapura .

After no reorganization of the constituencies had taken place since 1976, the Kanakapura constituency had grown disproportionately due to the sharp increase in the number of inhabitants in the Bangalore area. In the course of the reorganization of the constituencies before the Lok Sabha election in 2009 , the constituency of Kanakapura was therefore dissolved. He gave part of his territory to the constituencies of Bangalore South and Mandya . The new constituency Bangalore Rural was formed from the remaining area of the former constituency of Kanakapura .
