London City Airport (DLR)
London City Airport is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Newham . It is located in the Travelcard tariff zone 3 on Hartmann Road in the Silvertown district , directly in front of the London City Airport terminal .
The station is located, following the typical DLR construction, elevated on a viaduct . In addition, it is completely covered and has two entrances. The central platform is connected to an intermediate level by stairs, escalators and elevators. The main hall of the airport terminal can be reached directly from here. From the entrance on the lower level, a short pedestrian tunnel leads to Drew Road, which mainly serves the local community.
Opened the station on 2 December 2005, together with the branch route between Canning Town and King George V . Previously, the airport was very difficult to reach by public transport, with a shuttle bus from Canning Town train station. Before the station was built, the Drew Primary School was located on the site , a three-story building over 100 years old; a new school was built nearby.
