The Long Bluff is a striking cliff in the southeast of Thurston Island before Eights Coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands . It rises on the western flank of the Long Glacier .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2003 after W. A. Long, pharmacist in the Eastern Group in Operation Highjump (1946–1947) carried out by the United States Navy , who on January 12, 1947 was involved in the rescue of six surviving crew members Martin PBM Mariner who crashed on the Noville Peninsula was involved.
