Lord Gray
Lord Gray is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Scotland .
The Lords' family seat was formerly Fowlis Castle near Dundee in Angus and is now Airds Bay House near Taynuilt in Argyll .
Award
The title was created in 1445 for the Scottish diplomat and politician Sir Andrew Gray of Fowlis .
Today his descendant Andrew Campbell-Gray holds the title as 23rd Lord.
As the Scottish Lordship of Parliament , the title is also hereditary in the female line. When the 18th Lord inherited the title of Lord from his mother in 1878, he had inherited the paternal title of 14th Earl of Moray from his older brother in 1872 . When he died childless in 1895, his maternal aunt's daughter inherited him as 19th Lady Gray, while the Earldom Moray fell to a grandson of his paternal uncle.
