from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lorenz Rudolph Wohlien (born May 23, 1789 in Altona ; † January 19, 1834 there ) was an organ and piano builder from Altona .

He belonged to the famous Altona organ building family Wohlien and was (* 1745 in Wilster, † 1804 in Hamburg), the son of organ builder Balthasar Wohlien, the son of Johann Paul Geycke born. Lorenz Rudolph Wohlien was the only brother of the organ builder Johann Heinrich Wohlien and together with him forms the second generation of the organ builder family, which continued to exist for four generations.

In addition to his work as an organ builder, Lorenz Rudolph Wohlien was a "skilled piano maker". In the Museum of Musical Instruments at the University of Leipzig (inventory number 147) there was a square piano by Wohliens from the 1820s (lost in the war). The instrument was designed in the Empire style, adorned with bronze fittings and strung with two chords. The inscription on the trim showed it to be a work by "LR Wohlien Altona".
