Lorenzo Bartolomé Massa SDB (born November 11, 1882 in Morón , † October 31, 1949 in Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine , Roman Catholic religious priest . He was one of the founders of the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro and the scout group Exploradores de Don Bosco .

Life

His father Lorenzo Massa was born in Turin , his mother's name was Margarita Scanavini. His sisters Ángela and Blanca also became religious. He himself went to the Salesians of Don Bosco . After profession and studies, he was in 1898 by José Vespignani for ordained priests .

From 1900 to October 1902 he worked as a Salesian in the Don Bosco Agricultural School in Uribelarrea . He then worked as a teacher of theology at the Colegio Pío IX . In 1908 he went to the Oratorio San Antonio in the Almagro district of Buenos Aires as managing director .

That year he also met a group of soccer-playing boys who, under the leadership of Federico Monti, called themselves Los forzosos de almagro . He allowed them to use the oratory's soccer field. This finally led to the establishment of the Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro on April 1, 1908 . The part of the name San Lorenzo was chosen by Lorenzo Massa because of the patron saint Laurentius .

In 1916 he founded a school for arts and crafts in Tucumán , which was later named after General Belgrano .

Together with José Vespignani he founded a scout group in Argentina called Exploradores de Don Bosco .

Adoration

On October 31, 2008, his remains were transferred to a mausoleum in the Oratorio San Antonio. A technical institute was named after him.
