Lost Horizon ( English for "Lost Horizon") is a power metal band from Gothenburg , Sweden .

history

In 1990 future Hammerfall members formed the band Highlander , which was put on hold in 1994 and reactivated in the late 1990s . Renamed in 1998 to Lost Horizon, the band now comprised Christian Nyquist, Wojtek Lisicki and Martin Furängen (both formerly Luciferion ). After 2 years of preparation and goal setting, the band began with the first demo recordings , and singer Daniel Heiman joined them in the same period. After the recordings were completed, many record labels expressed interest in a contract ; they decided on Music for Nations . In the period from March - August 2000, the debut album Awakening the World was recorded, which was released a year later (2001). Within a few months the album was sold more than 200,000 times and the band gave a large number of interviews without going on tour beforehand. A number of appearances across Europe followed .

In January 2002 Lost Horizon began work on their second album A Flame to the Ground Beneath , which was completed in May of the same year and released in 2003. Despite the success of the debut, the band members describe their second work as more mature. Immediately after the release, Lisicki left the band to rejoin in 2004. Heiman and Olsson, however, finally turned their backs on Lost Horizon and founded Heed themselves . The dwindling membership brought the band's progress to a halt, until they came together again in 2008 and recorded songs for a new album in their own production (without a label). The fact that no new singer has yet been found stands in the way of completing the recordings.

style

The band plays the European variant of Power Metal with strong epic influences. The band members see a certain social commitment in their lyrics , which are intended to strengthen the listener's soul and are aimed particularly at people who are in a crisis .
