Luciferion was a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg .

biography

The band was founded in 1993 by Michael Nicklasson (guitar), Peter Weiner (drums) and Wojtek Lisicki (guitar and vocals). Martin Furängen (bass) joined them later. Metal greats of the eighties such as Morbid Angel , Deicide , Celtic Frost and others served as models .

In mid-1993, Luciferion recorded their first demo recording, The Demon of 1994 , which was sent to the French record label Listenable Records in 1994 . A contract was immediately concluded and the demo was released for promotion through the label that same year. In February 1994, the recording of the first studio album Demonication (The Manifest) began in the recording studio Studio Fredman . Shortly after the recording was completed, drummer Weiner left the band and was replaced by Hans Nilsson. After the release of the debut , a number of appearances followed in Europe, the band enjoyed a consistently positive response.

Despite this success, the band lost more and more motivation from 1996, which led to a standstill. Only a few isolated sampler contributions in the form of dedicated cover songs were recorded until 2002. All members began to get involved with other bands during this period.

In 2000, Luciferion got together again to record one last album. In 2003 The Apostate was released , which contained five new songs, a cover song and all the material from the demo The Demon of 1994 . Shortly after the release, Lisicki declared the band dissolved.

style

Luciferion played typical Death Metal which in the beginning (also on the last album) was accompanied by some Black Metal influences, but these were completely lost on the debut album. Frequent speed changes and a high degree of complexity shaped the songs.
