Lothar Blanvalet (born August 12, 1910 in Berlin ; † January 17, 1979 there ; pseudonym: Heino Willberg ) was a German publisher . In 1935 he founded the Blanvalet publishing house .

Life

Blanvalet came from a Huguenot family who had lived in Berlin since the 17th century. He wanted to become an actor and was involved in the staging of several plays as a teenager. Instead, at the request of his family, he took up an apprenticeship at a Berlin publishing house. In 1935 he founded the "Buchwarte-Verlag Lothar Blanvalet", named after him, based in Berlin. Among the first works that Blanvalet published were titles on the subject of football . During the time of National Socialism he was not allowed to continue his activity, but was able to resume after the end of the war. Blanvalet recorded commercial success in the 1950s with the series of novels "Angélique" . In 1974 Blanvalet sold his company to the Bertelsmann publishing group for reasons of age in order to ensure the "continuation of his publishing life's work". Blanvalet was also repeatedly politically active. In 1948 he organized an anti-communist demonstration in Berlin and published critical pamphlets on the occasion of the Berlin blockade .
