Lothar Fischer (politician)

Lothar Fischer (born June 21, 1942 in Homburg ; † February 3, 2013 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Bundestag.

Life

Fischer did an apprenticeship at a customs agency from 1956 to 1957. He graduated from high school in 1963 and began studying mathematics. In 1968 he took his diploma in mathematics as a major, with a minor in physics, and then worked until 1973 as an assistant at the Mathematical Institute of Saarland University . From 1969 to 1980 he also worked as a mathematics and physics teacher at a grammar school , most recently at the Christian von Mannlich grammar school in Homburg . He quit his job to devote himself to politics.

Fischer joined the SPD in 1966 and quickly established himself as chairman of various Juso offices. For example, he was subdistrict chairman and deputy chairman of the city association. From 1981 to 1990 Fischer was deputy sub-district chairman of the SPD, and he was a member of the Bundestag from 1980 to 2002.
