Lothar Köhler (politician)

Lothar Köhler (born June 13, 1938 in Altenburg ) is a former German politician ( LDPD ). From 1981 to 1990 he was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Köhler, son of a technician, attended high school with a high school diploma and was an intern from 1956 to 1957. He graduated from 1957 to 1964 with a degree in hydraulic engineering at the Dresden University of Transport Systems. He then worked as a research assistant in various water management institutes . From 1969 to 1971 he completed a correspondence course at the engineering college in Leipzig, graduating as a specialist in data processing. In 1973 he became a doctoral engineer at the Bergakademie Freiberg . From 1976 to 1983 he worked as a chief engineer, then as chief engineer for building construction and statics in the VEB Kombinat Wassertechnik and Projektierung Wasserwirtschaft Halle.

In 1956 he became a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) and in 1965 of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDPD). From 1970 to 1974 he was the successor candidate and from 1974 a member of the Altenburg district council . From June 1981 to March 1990 he was a member of the LDPD parliamentary group of the People's Chamber of the GDR. He was a member of the Citizens' Submissions Committee.
