Lothar Pacholski (born April 1, 1938 in Zeitz ; † December 31, 2005 ) was a football player in the top division of the GDR football association , the GDR Oberliga . He played there for the company sports associations (BSG) Chemie Zeitz and Chemie Leipzig . With Chemie Leipzig, he was GDR champion in 1964. Later Pacholski worked as a football coach.

Soccer career

Pacholski began in 1952 as a young ball player at BSG Chemie in his hometown Zeitz, southwest of Leipzig . In 1954 he was GDR champion with the B-Jugend. In 1959 he was accepted into the first men's team, which was playing in the GDR league at the time. When Chemie Zeitz relegated to the second-rate GDR league in 1960 , Pacholski had played 49 of the 52 league point games in the 1959 and 1960 seasons and scored six goals. Previously, on May 4, 1960, he had his only international selection assignment. In the game of the GDR youth national team against Poland (0: 3) he was called up in the unfamiliar position of left defender. Until the end of the 1962/63 season, Pacholski played with Chemie Zeitz in the GDR league. On May 1, 1963, he stood as a center forward with the Zeitzers in the final of the GDR soccer cup , but the second division had no chance in the 0: 3 against the upper division Motor Zwickau.

In the summer of 1963, Leipzig football was reorganized. The supposedly best football players of the previous league clubs Rotation and Lok Leipzig were transferred to the newly founded SC Leipzig, the later so-called "Rest of Leipzig" had to play in the less sponsored company sports club Chemie Leipzig. Lothar Pacholski was brought to Leipzig to strengthen this team. He was part of the core team of Chemie Leipzig from the start and played all 26 league point games in the 1963/64 season. He proved to be a versatile striker and played in all attacking positions. At the end of the season, Chemie Leipzig surprisingly became East German champion, Pacholski had won his only title in his football career in the men's field. The 26-year-old's league career came to an end with a total of 75 appearances and eleven goals (six for chemistry), because Pacholski was drafted into military service in the fall of 1964 and then did not return to the league.

Pacholski initially completed his military service with the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts in Zschachenmühle in southeast Thuringia . In 1965 he was delegated to ASG Vorwärts Meiningen , which had been promoted to the GDR league. With this team Pacholski played until the end of the 1972/73 season in the GDR league. Then he took over the training of the league team. In the summer of 1974 the ASG was relocated to Plauen and from then on appeared as ASG Vorwärts Plauen . In Plauen, Pacholski was able to keep the team in the GDR league until 1981. In 1975 and 1977 he reached third place in the league, his best result as a coach. When the Plauener had to relegate to the district league in 1981 , Pacholski kept the coaching office and led his team back to the GDR league after a year. But even in the new league season 1982/83 forward Plauen could not secure relegation with tenth place, and Pacholski rose again with his team in the third division. A return of the coach Lothar Pacholski to the higher class football was no longer successful.

He later acted as chairman of the Plauen City Sports Association. During his time as an active football player, he had completed a degree in mechanical engineering and rose to an officer in army football. He died at the age of 67.
