Lothar Schämer (born April 28, 1940 in Ottowitz , Karlsbad district ; † December 27, 2017 ) was a German football player.

Career

Schämer played for SV Erzhausen until 1960 . Then he was hired by Eintracht Frankfurt , for which he was active until 1973. On August 24, 1963, he was part of the starting line-up that played in the opening game of the newly founded Bundesliga , as the unified highest German division, against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the Frankfurt team's first game; the game ended 1: 1 in a draw, to which he contributed with a penalty in the 40th minute and equalized the lead of Jürgen Neumann from the 38th minute.

He played a total of 216 Bundesliga games in which he scored 24 goals. Lothar Schämer was still a striker in the early years , but later switched to defense . He played his last game on June 9, 1973 (34th matchday) in the 1: 3 defeat in the home game against MSV Duisburg .

After his professional career, he played for several years in his home town at SV Erzhausen .
