Lothar Schürer (* 1928 ) was a soccer player in Zwickau . With the ZSG Horch / BSG Motor Zwickau , he played from 1949 to 1953 in the upper league of the German Sports Committee , the highest football division in the GDR . In 1950 he became the first GDR soccer champion with Horch Zwickau.

With three qualifying games against BSG Carl Zeiss Jena (1: 1, 2: 2, 5: 0) in August and September 1949, ZSG Horch Zwickau, the company sports association of the Zwickau Automobile Plant Horch, qualified for the upper league of the German Sports Committee, which in her first season went on. The Zwickau squad for the Oberliga also included the 21-year-old attacking midfielder Lothar Schürer. After 26 point games, ZSG Horch was the first GDR football champion. Schürer did not get beyond the status of a substitute player, he only contributed to the championship with twelve goalless league appearances. In the following three seasons until 1953 he was able to increase his stakes and was now used in 70 percent of all point games. He completed a total of 84 league games in which he scored eight goals for the Zwickau team, who had competed as BSG Motor since 1950.

In 1951 he was with the state selection of Saxony in the final of the GDR regional cup, which the Saxons won 2-1 over Saxony-Anhalt .
